Last week the FDA held a two-day public hearing to discuss a potential paradigm that would allow certain prescription drugs to be available over the counter (OTC). The idea behind this model, as stated in the Feb. 28, 2012, Federal Register, is that FDA would expand the availability of certain OTC medications under “conditions of safe use.”
