Prime Therapeutics Executives to Discuss Payer Strategies for Hepatitis C Treatment, Costs
Atlantic Information Services, Inc. (AIS) - November 24, 2014 - Washington, DC

Since 2011, the FDA has approved five new drugs to treat hepatitis C, with more expected to launch soon. With the approvals have come improved cure rates and decreased side effects compared with older regimens, but innovation hasn’t come cheap. The Dec. 8 webinar from Atlantic Information Services, Inc. (AIS), “Hepatitis C Treatment: Payer Strategies to Improve Outcomes and Contain Costs,” will discuss what strategies payers should use to evaluate today’s costly treatment options (and those in the pipeline) and make sure patients receive care that is appropriate for each individual.

During 60 minutes of presentations followed by 30 minutes devoted to individual questions, two industry experts from Prime Therapeutics — Patrick Gleason, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, and Kirsten Tiberg, R.Ph. — will provide valuable perspectives about:

  • The efficacy and cost of today’s therapies, and the impact new drugs in the pipeline are likely to have on current treatment choices
  • Diagnoses of hepatitis C stages and the impact on treatment
  • A three-year hepatitis C drug class impact model that uses integrated medical and pharmacy claims to forecast utilization and costs
  • The influence of member cost share on adherence, and the impact that pharmaceutical manufacturer copay offsets have in managing hepatitis C and other costly specialty drug treatments
  • Methods to identify and remove barriers to complicated treatment regimens to help boost adherence
  • Ways to align efforts to manage specialty hepatitis C drug treatments, including utilization management, care management, channel management, rebate/formulary management and benefit design
