From The AIS Report on Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans - March came in like a lion for Highmark Inc. with the scandal involving its now former CEO Ken Melani, M.D. (The AIS Report 4/12, p. 8), but April showered the insurer with much better spirits after a positive April 17 Pennsylvania Insurance Department hearing regarding its proposed affiliation with West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS).
