From ACO Business News - CMS’s just-launched Comprehensive ESRD Care Initiative, designed to move Medicare beneficiaries with end-stage renal disease into accountable care organizations, already is facing headwinds, with a CMS-spurred delay in the application deadline and a request for significant changes in the program from an organization representing numerous major ESRD players. Originally, applications for the initiative were due on May 1. However, CMS extended the deadline to July 1 following some pushback from ESRD providers, who complained they didn’t have enough time to develop their proposals. However, ESRD providers also are complaining about substantive issues involving the three-year program. Read more
