Aetna Inc. promoted Heather Dixon to vice president, controller and chief accounting officer. She joined Aetna as vice president and assistant controller in August 2016. She succeeds Sharon Virag, who resigned effective Oct. 31, 2017….Health Care Service Corp. (HCSC) named Rob Hitchcock senior vice president and president of the Government-Sponsored and Consumer Solutions division. He previously led Medicare Advantage programs in 14 Midwestern and Western states for Humana Inc., and Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and exchange programs in 20 markets for Centene Corp….Blue Shield of California promoted Todd Walthall to executive vice president of markets. He replaces David Fields, who is leaving the company to return to the Midwest to be with his family. Walthall joined Blue Shield in 2014 as senior vice president of customer experience. The insurer promoted Michael Mathias to fill Walthall’s position. Along with serving as executive vice president of customer experience, Mathias also will continue in his role as chief information officer. Mathias joined Blue Shield in 2013 after spending 16 years at Aetna, most recently as chief technology officer and chief information officer.
