Two new employer health benefits surveys revealed increasing health care costs, while anecdotal evidence from consultants show employers have a lack of real interest in changing plan designs or adding new initiatives — unless they can bring a big bang for the buck. CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield promoted Brian Pieninck, previously executive vice president for the company’s Large Group and CareFirst Administrators strategic business units, to chief operating officer. Pienick will be replaced by David Corkum, who previously served as senior vice president of commercial markets at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. CareFirst also named Rose Megian executive vice president of the company’s Small and Medium strategic business unit. She previously served as president and CEO of Health Net of Arizona Inc….EHE appointed Dr. David Levy CEO. Levy was the founder and CEO of Franklin Health, Inc. until its sale in 2004, led the global health care practice at PwC until 2013, and most recently served as CEO of AposTherapy. Former CEO Shaun Francis will continue to serve as chairman of EHE’s board.
