Severely Mentally Ill May Overrun Medicaid, Exchanges With Pent-up Services Demand

Individuals with severe mental disorders, who are now more likely to be uninsured than is the population as a whole, will represent a disproportionately large amount of the increased demand for services under health reform, especially in Medicaid, according to a recently published study. Charles Cox has been named vice president and market medical officer of Humana Inc. for commercial operations in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. Cox was vice president and chief medical officer at CarePlus Health Plan Inc. in Miami....Christus Spohn Health System promoted Estela Chapa to chief operating officer for the health system, and Paul Gaden to COO at Christus Spohn Hospitals Memorial and South. Chapa previously oversaw operations at Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial, and Gaden fills Chapa's former position.
