What a difference a year makes. In 2009, an early flu season was raging and the H1N1 “swine flu” proved so virulent and contagious that by June the World Health Organization had christened it a pandemic. This year, with an unusually mild flu season thus far, many providers report that vaccination rates are down, and public health officials warn that Americans may be lowering their guard at a time when H1N1 is still very much present and the traditionally most severe months of flu season are still ahead. Dennis Barnes Jr., CEO of Medicare Advantage marketing specialist Marketing Direct, Inc., has been named president and CEO of the KBM Group Health Services Division following the acquisition this month of MDI by KBM Group, a large knowledge-based marketing firm.…Arcadian Health Plan named John Wells chief performance officer. Wells was vice president of strategic compliance solutions at Gorman Health Group LLC, where he was responsible for services relevant to the regulatory and compliance needs of Medicare health plans.
