10%... incentive payments will begin on Jan. 1 for Medicare services that are provided by primary care practitioners and general surgeons who perform major surgery in areas designated by CMS as having shortages of health professionals, according to CMS’s final Nov.2 rulemaking to implement portions of the health reform law that expand Medicare preventive services.

Kindler, who on Dec. 5 suddenly resigned....Christopher Viehbacher, CEO at sanofi-aventis, became chairman of the board of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) upon Kindler's resignation.
